Both organizations have formed to create a unified group across AT&T corporation under the name Community NETwork - African American Telecommunication Professionals of AT&T.

From the very beginning, African-Americans were part of the telecommunications industry. Too often, however, these pioneers' careers have remained largely unrecorded, and have faded from collective memory. The history of African-Americans in the telecommunications business has been characterized by innovation, courage, and many contributions to industry advances and customer service. This document attempts to commemorate the labor of black people in the telecommunications business and especially at AT&T Southwest (formerly Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.), from the phone's invention in 1876 to the present day.
